Opening a shop

Who can open a shop, the application fee, review, shop quality and selling abroad.

What a shop can do

An ordinary account can post listings and agree deals in chat. A shop can also:

  • add products with prices and stock to its listings, so buyers can pay online through checkout,
  • run auctions in categories that allow them,
  • show the shop badge that tells buyers their money is protected.

Buyers pay Ahiuwa, and you are paid once the order has arrived. That protection is why many buyers prefer shops — and why shops are checked before they open.

Applying for a shop

Before you apply, you need a verified identity and a verified phone number.

  1. Open My shop and fill in the application.
  2. Pay the application fee: $10, charged in your currency. Until it is paid, the application waits.
  3. Our team reviews the application. You get a notification with the decision.

A shop opens in the country on your account and settles in that country's currency. Neither can be changed later, because they decide how you are paid.

About the fee

The fee pays for one review and is not refunded if the shop is not approved. If you are declined, you can apply again with a new fee. If you ever pay twice, the extra payment is kept as a credit towards your next application.

In the app: Account tab → profile menu → Settings & privacy → My shop

On the website: My account → My shop

Your shop score

Every shop has a quality score built from how it handles orders: shipping on time, cancelling as little as possible, and how many orders end in a dispute. The score is recalculated regularly.

It matters because it controls reach. Shops that ship on time and rarely cancel have their listings shown more; shops that ship late and cancel are shown less. There is no warning letter — the traffic simply follows the behaviour.

Free delivery offers

You can make delivery free once a buyer orders enough. There are two kinds of offer, and for each you set a minimum spend, a minimum number of items, or both. Reaching either one is enough.

Across your shop
Free delivery on a whole order from your shop, for example on orders of ₦50,000 or more, or 3 items or more.
On one item
Free delivery on that item when the buyer buys enough of it or spends enough on it. Every version of the item counts together.

Spend counts the items only, not delivery or buyer protection. Buyers see your offer on the listing, and their cart tells them how much more to add. You cover the delivery on orders that qualify. An international shop can keep an offer to buyers in its own country.

Selling to other countries

Every shop starts domestic: it sells within its own country. A shop that has proven it can serve its own country well can graduate to international and then choose which countries it delivers to.

To graduate, a shop needs
Completed ordersAt least 50
Account ageAt least 90 days
Shop scoreAt least 80
On-time shippingAt least 95%
CancellationsAt most 2.5%
DisputesAt most 3%
RatingAt least 4.3 stars from 20 or more reviews
Clean recordNo strikes in the last 60 days

My shop shows how close you are to each one. Once you qualify, graduate from the same screen and pick your destinations.

In the app: My shop → Choose destination countries

On the website: My shop → Destinations
